About Ponteland Rugby Club

Ponteland Rugby Football Club, known as the Mighty Maroons, is the town's community rugby union club, based at Ponteland Leisure Centre on Callerton Lane. It fields a 1st XV in Counties 1 North East and a 2nd XV, a women's team (the Tigers), and a large age-grade section running from minis and juniors up to youth level, making it a club for players of every age and standard.

The club has a strong record in Northumberland rugby, including multiple Northumberland Senior Plate titles, and prides itself on a welcoming, family atmosphere both on the pitch and in the clubhouse. New players, from tots at minis training to adults wanting to pick the game back up, are actively encouraged, making it a good first port of call for rugby-minded families in the area.
