About Ponteland Anti-Litter Squad (PALS)

The Ponteland Anti-Litter Squad, known as PALS, was formed in 2024 as a voluntary community association and has grown from a handful of friends to more than 50 members. Its monthly patrols cover the town and surrounding countryside, and between April 2025 and March 2026 volunteers collected 1,418 kilos of litter, including thousands of cans and bottles and hundreds of discarded vapes.

The group meets on the third Sunday of each month and also runs educational and environmental work with local schools, Duke of Edinburgh's Award participants and Newcastle International Airport staff. New volunteers are always welcome; check the events calendar for the next pick.
