About 1st Ponteland Scout Group

1st Ponteland Scout Group is the town's Scout group, part of the Castle Morpeth District within Northumberland Scouts. It meets at its own Scout headquarters in Ponteland Park, off West Road, and runs the full range of sections: Beavers (ages 6 to 8), Cubs (ages 8 to 10 and a half), Scouts (ages 10 and a half to 14) and an Explorer Scout Unit (ages 14 to 18), with several colonies, packs and troops meeting on different nights through the week. The group also runs the Duke of Edinburgh's Award scheme.

Scouting gives young people the chance to try things they would rarely do at home, from camping and hiking to teamwork, community projects and gaining badges. Like all Scout groups it depends on adult volunteers, and popular sections can have waiting lists, so it is worth registering interest early.
