Siena's Italian Restaurant Opens in Dinnington

Diners in Ponteland and the nearby villages have a new place to try. Siena's, an Italian restaurant, opened its doors at 4pm on Saturday 25 October on Main Road in Dinnington, a short drive from Ponteland.

The restaurant takes over the building that was home to Last Days of the Raj. According to Brit Brief, the Indian restaurant started out in Low Fell, Gateshead, before moving to Dinnington in 2015 into the former Bay Horse pub. It closed earlier this year after 11 years, with rising costs cited as a factor, so the opening brings a familiar village building back into use.

What is on the menu

As reported by the Hexham Courant, the menu covers pizzas, pasta, steaks, chicken and seafood. Prices published at launch include:

• Pizzas from £10.95
• Linguine bolognese from £11.95
• Fillet steaks from £28.95
• A two-course lunch for £18.95

Sunday roasts are also on offer, with beef or lamb at £16.95 and chicken at £15.95. Bookings can be made by phone on 0191 429 3814 or through the restaurant's Facebook page. Prices and opening times may change, so it is worth checking before you visit.

A new option for the area

For Ponteland residents, Dinnington is close enough for an easy evening out without heading into Newcastle, and an Italian restaurant with a Sunday roast menu fills a useful gap for families and groups. The Courant also reported the plans in the run-up to the opening.
