The Hawk is a countryside gastropub, restaurant and small hotel on the A696 at Higham Dykes, a short drive north of Ponteland. It reopened in 2026 following a collaboration with the Hawkstone brand, and offers relaxed pub dining built around quality Northumberland produce, elevated pub classics, fresh seafood and seasonal dishes, with local ales and Guinness on tap, a farm shop, and five double rooms for overnight stays.

Dog-friendly and geared to walkers, families and country diners, it has an outdoor terrace and a programme of live music and events. It is a handy country stop-off for anyone in the Ponteland and Milbourne area looking for lunch, a Sunday roast or a relaxed dinner.
